Common Pre-Sale Questions
Currently, Accessibility Checker is a WordPress-specific accessibility auditing tool and it cannot scan non-WordPress websites. We may expand into other content management systems in the future, but for now are focused on making the best native WordPress accessibility scanner.
Yes! We have active users who are using both the free and paid versions of Accessibility Checker on their WordPress.com websites. In order to be able to install Accessibility Checker on WordPress.com, you must have a WordPress.com Business (paid) account, which supports third-party plugins. If you do not have a Business plan, Accessibility Checker cannot be used.
Please note that your remediation options may be more limited on a WordPress.com account and it may be necessary for you to migrate to a different host in order to make your website fully accessible.
We know that accessibility remediation is not always easy – especially in WordPress sites built with a multitude of different plugins and themes. To help make accessibility fixes easier, we have multiple options for support.
Small business and enterprise plans include the ability to join two accessibility office hours calls each month. These are group Zoom calls for open Q&A with an accessibility specialist.
If you need help fixing problems, we offer in-depth auditing, user testing, and remediation.
Equalize Digital offers an agency partner program that includes discounted access to accessibility services, provides affiliate commissions on plugin license sales, and referral commissions on accessibility services or new website projects. Learn more about the program on our accessibility for agencies page.
We frequently receive inquiries for new website projects and accessibility remediation assistance that we cannot fulfill. When this happens, we often refer the business to agencies or freelancers with an active Accessibility Checker license at the agency tier.
Yes, you can deactivate any currently registered site(s) on the License Keys page of your account dashboard, after which you will be able to activate the license on a new site.
License keys can be activated on one or multiple websites depending upon the package that you have purchased. You can deactivate your license key and move it to another site at any time. This can be done through the website where you are deactivating the license or on the License Keys page in your account.
Development or localhost URLs are excluded from license key restrictions. Learn more about how we identify development URLs.
To utilize paid Accessibility Checker features, receive updates for our paid plugin, or to receive support, you do need to have an active license key.
If your license key has expired, you can continue to use the free version of Accessibility Checker but will lose access to premium features and will no longer be able to receive support outside of the WordPress.org support forums.
Equalize Digital provides free support on plugin usage and features for all users. Users on a free plan receive support via the WordPress.org support forum. Users on a paid plan receive email support and may open a support ticket anytime.
Please note that software support is limited to providing assistance in using the plugin, including information about functionality and troubleshooting. Email or forum-based support does not include assistance resolving any specific accessibility issues that have been identified.
License keys connect your site to ours, allowing us to send you automatic updates for the software. Updates include the addition of new features, bug fixes, and checker rule modifications to maintain compliance as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) change. Additionally, an active license is required to use features included with our free plans.
If you are using the free version of Accessibility Checker, you will not have a license key.
License keys are subscription-based and will automatically renew every month or year based upon your plan selection, using the same payment method that you used for the original purchase. You can modify or cancel your subscription at any time.
If you decide to cancel, you may do so on the Manage Subscriptions page of your account dashboard.
Your subscription can be canceled at any time after purchase. Once canceled, your license key will not renew automatically and will expire on the expiration date. Once expired, you will no longer receive automatic updates or have access to support. You may manually renew your license at any time to reactivate your subscription.
You are more than welcome to request a refund within 30 days of your original purchase date. Please view our full terms and conditions for more details on our refund policy.
Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel plans at any time through your My Equalize Digital account. When upgrading from a smaller to a larger paid plan, customers receive a one-time prorated credit towards their upgrade cost. This ensures that no value is lost from the previous (original) purchase.
Accessibility office hours are open calls that take place on Zoom every other Wednesday at noon U.S. central time with Equalize Digital CEO, Amber Hinds. Accessibility Checker Small Business and Agency License holders can join these calls and get answers to questions about accessibility remediation or testing.
