Gain Real, Actionable Knowledge
Equalize Digital is more than an accessibility audit and remediation company. We build training into our Audit to CertificationTM process to help ensure that your organization does not repeat costly mistakes and puts its best foot forward in maintaining an inclusive digital presence. Our goal is not just to be your remediators, but to be your teachers so that by the end of our engagement you’ll have a solid understanding of website accessibility basics. We want you to be empowered to enter new content on your website or create new designs in an accessible manner.
All Equalize Digital projects – from audits and remediation, to new website builds – includes website accessibility training for content managers and designers. If you have a developer on your team who needs training, we can provide that as well.
In addition to providing training for clients, our team also frequently speaks at conferences and virtual events, and we offer one-off personalized training sessions customized for your team or organization.
- Understand accessibility from every angle — technical, legal, and end user.
- Empower your team to properly maintain the accessibility of your website.
- Learn how accessibility can fit into any operating procedure.
- Receive guidance on recommended accessibility tools and plugins.
Ways to Learn
Equalize Digital offers a myriad of training options that are customizable to suit your needs, and are geared to users at a variety of levels, both technical and non-technical. To schedule a training session or speaker for your next event, contact us.
In-Person Trainings or Workshops
When you have a large group of employees or stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge, it can sometimes be easier to get everyone on the same page with an in-person training or workshop. We’re based in the Austin, Texas area and also travel throughout the U.S.
Virtual Training & Webinars
All accessibility remediation and new website projects include one-on-one virtual training customized to your specific needs. Our team of accessibility experts are also available for group webinars and are happy to speak at virtual events.
Is your conference or corporate retreat looking for a dynamic and thought-provoking speaker? Amber Hinds, Equalize Digital’s CEO, is available to speak at your next event. By mixing personal anecdotes, real-world examples, and technical examples, Amber is a web accessibility speaker who will leave your audience inspired to improve their website’s accessibility – and will give them the tools to start making changes right away.
Our mission is to make the web more accessible and useable by everyone, one website at a time. In keeping with this mission, we strive to provide people with the tools they need to become web accessibility advocates within their organization and on their website. All of our training sessions, workshops, webinars, and talks include real-world examples and actionable insights and methodology. If the format allows, we love to build in lots of time for Q&A as we feel that typically provides the most value to attendees.
Getting Started With Website Accessibility
A great presentation for audiences new to the topic of accessibility. This presentation covers what website accessibility means, which organizations are legally required to have an accessible website (including a review of some recent legal cases), and how to identify and fix accessibility issues on your website. Additionally, it includes an overview of how to create a culture of accessibility at your organization and get buy-in and budgetary support for website accessibility improvements.
Website Accessibility for Content Managers
This training session is a platform agnostic deep-dive into everything you need to know about how to create and manage content on your website in a manner that is accessible to people of all abilities. Perfect for non-technical and technical users, and can also touch on accessible content creation for social media and other digital marketing platforms.
WordPress Accessibility for Content Managers
Is your website a WordPress website? This training is for you! Our popular website accessibility for content managers training, but with a WordPress spin. Because this is platform specific, we’ll spend time looking at specific tools and plugins that impact accessibility in WordPress. This is a non-technical training session – no coding required.
PDF Accessibility Compliance
Ensuring that the PDF documents on your website are accessible is key to maintaining your website’s accessibility. Any document that you link to and host on your website needs to be accessible just like the website itself and if they’re not, you run a legal risk. This training covers what makes a PDF accessible and how to test for accessibility in Adobe Acrobat.
Website Accessibility for Designers
If you have website or graphic designers on your team, there are specific WCAG success criteria that they’ll need to know and understand in order to create accessible designs. This training covers everything your design team needs to know in order to make beautiful web designs and graphics that are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.
Website Accessibility for WordPress Developers
This training session is intended for WordPress developers building custom themes or plugins, and covers coding best practices for accessibility within the WordPress environment. We’ll discuss some of the unique challenges of delivering accessible websites in a WordPress environment and how we address them.

Accessibility Training FAQ
By providing a solid foundation across the three core aspects of web accessibility — the technical, the legal, and the end-user experience — we can set your team up for long-term success in improving and maintaining accessibility compliance in-house. Our training sessions are highly customizable so that our experts can meet you wherever you are on the path towards understanding accessibility.
- Customized instruction on the topics relevant to your organization.
- Downloadable slides and reference materials.
- In the case of virtual training, we can include a recording of the training session for future reference at no additional charge.
- Q&A with an accessibility expert.
Our accessibility training services typically take place via video conference or in a webinar format, both of which allow for the sharing of supporting information via slides and video. In-person training options are also available, as are workshops and individual one-on-one tutorial sessions.
If you’re interested in receiving accessibility training, please fill out the inquiry form, above, and a team member will get in touch with you. We’ll schedule a time for a call to discuss your exact needs, timeline, and pricing. Once the details are ironed out, we’ll spend time preparing and supporting materials that may be needed to make the most of your training session. During the training session, there will be plenty of time to answer questions and we’re typically available to answer additional questions via email following the session. At the conclusion of your session, you’ll receive any video recordings, notes, slides, and/or reference materials via email.
The length of your accessibility training will depend on the size of your organization, as well as the format that you choose (either live video, webinar, or in-person) and the topic(s) to be covered.
A single session covering one more “broad” topic (e.g. Getting Started with Website Accessibility) lasts roughly 60-90 minutes, allowing for a healthy amount of Q&A. For conferences and events, we tend to prefer longer time slots, however we can present interesting case studies or cover “top accessibility mistakes” in lightening talks of 10-15 minutes.
For total accessibility training — where we cover the basics of every aspect of accessibility and try to impart a working knowledge of managing compliance — we recommend setting aside 2-3 days for your team to attend multiple sessions, each covering a different topic.
All of our remediation packages and monitoring packages at the “Standard” level and above include some regular time for strategy meetings and training. These sessions can be with one point person or with everyone who is involved in managing your website. These training sessions typically take the form of live tutorials or working sessions where we walk you through specific accessibility items on your site or in your documents. They take place over Zoom, are usually an hour long, and can be recorded.
You are welcome to request specific items to cover in advance of the calls, but we also typically come to these sessions with a specific list of items we would like to cover. Generally, these items are things that we see as frequent errors on your specific site. For example, if we notice that many images on your website are missing alt tags, in our next meeting, we’ll discuss what alt tags are, how to write good ones, and show you how to add them in your website.
Yes. We’re happy to provide accessibility training and consulting to other marketing agencies and WordPress theme or plugin developers. We strongly believe in making the internet a more accessible place and love having the opportunity to provide training and recommendations to free and commercial themes and plugins.
