Navigating the Future: Using WordPress Menu Blocks That Work for Everyone: Jennifer Dust and Eli Frigoli

January 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free
Navigating the Future: Using WordPress Menu Blocks That Work for Everyone with Jennifer Dust and Eli Frigoli on Thursday, January 9th at 10 AM Central.
Since the navigation menu is typically the first and most-used point of user interaction within a website, the menu must be accessible to all users – including those navigating the site through assistive technologies. This becomes even more important as a site grows and the menu complexity increases into multi-level megamenus. However, not all megamenu blocks are built with accessibility in mind.
In this session, we will discuss the importance of accessible navigation, identify some common pitfalls of megamenu navigation solutions, explore the structural patterns of a truly accessible navigation menu, and learn how to determine which third-party solutions are developed with accessibility at the forefront by walking through the code structure of our custom megamenu block.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Understanding why accessible site navigation is important
  • Recognizing common accessibility pitfalls of megamenu structure
  • Identifying key structural elements of a truly accessible navigation menu
  • Implementing third-party solutions for megamenu blocks

These meetups take place via Zoom and are live captioned. You must register to attend via Zoom.
