Building Empathy with Stakeholders to Drive Accessibility: Simon Miner

How can we help leaders really “get” the need for digital accessibility? In this session, we will discuss proven methods for building support with stakeholders for your accessibility program. We’ll explore tools like the Site Unseen browser extension that you can use to foster appreciation for the challenges disabled users may face on your organization’s websites.
We’ll talk about how to align your accessibility goals with your institution’s culture and existing processes in ways that affect real change, and we’ll cover listening and conversational techniques that cultivate trust with upper management and coworkers.
You’ll come away from this presentation with strategies you can start using immediately to constructively engage with colleagues and leaders to advance accessibility in your organization.

About Simon Miner
Simon Miner is the founder of Pedal Point Solutions, an agency that helps you learn, practice, and experience digital accessibility. He is a Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) with more than 25 years experience in web development and software engineering. He is passionate about making websites accessible and creating tools to overcome digital barriers for people with disabilities. Simon has been training corporations, colleges, and community organizations in web accessibility for over 10 years.
