Accessibility Checker Now Available in 32 Languages

Article PublishedJune 19, 2025Last UpdatedJune 19, 2025 Written byAmber Hinds

Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker software update: available in 32 languages. Languages listed in post content.

We’re excited to announce that Accessibility Checker, Equalize Digital’s powerful WordPress plugin for automated accessibility testing and fixes, is now available in 32 languages!

This update makes it easier than ever for users around the world to identify and fix accessibility issues on their WordPress websites, no matter what language they speak.

Supported Languages

Accessibility Checker, Accessibility Checker Pro, and applicable Accessibility Checker add-ons have been translated into the following languages:

  •  Bulgarian
  •  Chinese (Simplified)
  •  Czech
  •  Danish
  •  Dutch
  •  Estonian
  •  Finnish
  •  French
  •  German
  •  Greek
  •  Hungarian
  •  Indonesian
  •  Italian
  •  Japanese
  •  Korean
  •  Latvian
  •  Lithuanian
  •  Norwegian
  •  Polish
  •  Portuguese
  •  Portuguese (Brazil)
  •  Romanian
  •  Russian
  •  Slovak
  •  Slovenian
  •  Spanish
  •  Swedish
  •  Thai
  •  Turkish
  •  Ukrainian
  •  Vietnamese

How Language Support Works

Setting Site Language

The plugin’s interface will automatically match the Site Language set in your WordPress General Settings. If your website is configured in French, German, or any of the supported languages above, Accessibility Checker will appear in that language for all users by default. All you have to do is make sure your website is running the current version of Accessibility Checker, and you should see the translated interfaces automatically.

Setting Language by User

What if you want the English back just for your user? Users can personalize their experience by selecting a different language for their individual user profile, regardless of the site-wide setting. This is great for multilingual teams or international organizations.

Feedback Welcomed

Due to challenges in getting human-submitted translations approved via the WordPress translation project (we have had Spanish translations pending approval for over a year). We decided to explore AI translations for Accessibility Checker as a means of quickly expanding language support and making the plugin more accessible to a global audience.

While AI translations allow us to cover a wide range of languages quickly, we know that AI translations may not always be perfect. We welcome feedback from native speakers and encourage anyone who notices translation errors or awkward phrasing to let us know or contribute improvements via our GitHub repo for Accessibility Checker. Your input helps ensure a better experience for everyone.

What’s Next

Translating the plugin into multiple languages reflects our ongoing commitment to making web accessibility more “accessible,” not just for website visitors, but for the developers, content creators, and site owners who work behind the scenes.

We’re continually working to make Accessibility Checker the most effective and easy-to-use tool for accessibility testing in WordPress, whether you’re a seasoned developer or just getting started. We have many more improvements planned for the upcoming months, and we’re committed to helping you build more accessible websites for everyone.

Now that the plugin interface is available in multiple languages, our next step is to improve how Accessibility Checker evaluates content in non-English languages. Specifically, we’re working to enhance rules that rely on string matching—like the Ambiguous Anchor Text check—so they can accurately detect vague or unhelpful link text in other languages. This will ensure that accessibility guidance is just as accurate and helpful for sites written in languages other than English.

Try Accessibility Checker today and see how easy it can be to find and fix accessibility issues on your WordPress site!
