Equalize Digital Receives Pre-Seed Investment from Emilia Capital to Accelerate Growth of its Accessibility Checker WordPress Plugin
Georgetown, Texas, March 14, 2023 – Equalize Digital has announced that it received pre-seed funding from Emilia Capital, the investment company owned by Joost de Valk and Marieke van de Rakt, founders of Yoast.
Equalize Digital is a Certified B Corporation, focused on improving overall accessibility on the web and within the WordPress content management system, which powers more than 43% of websites worldwide. The company offers accessibility audits, remediation, and accessibility-first development services and, in 2020, released its first software product, Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker, a plugin that scans WordPress websites for accessibility problems and provides comprehensive reports in the admin dashboard.
The Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker plugin was developed with the goal of making it easier and more affordable for people of all technical abilities to find and fix accessibility problems on their websites. The plugin has a free version available on WordPress.org that offers unlimited scanning of posts and pages with reports visible on the post edit screen.
The paid version of Accessibility Checker offers expanded features, including full-site scanning and site-wide issue reports. Accessibility Checker scans do not require an API connection to an external server, making it an affordable and privacy-friendly solution. Accessibility Checker is used by a variety of business, education, and government websites worldwide, including NASA, Colorado State University, Pinellas County Florida, the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, and Mint Mobile, among others.

With this investment, Equalize Digital is hiring a senior plugin developer to focus exclusively on Accessibility Checker and will be expanding its educational content around accessibility.
