SUMMARY:Digital Accessibility: Thinking Beyond WCAG and Compliance: Chris Scholtens
DESCRIPTION:Move beyond mere WCAG compliance to create genuinely accessible digital experiences. While WCAG provides an essential baseline\, focusing solely on checklists can limit meaningful user impact. By understanding the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities—such as ADHD\, dyslexia\, or color blindness—organizations can innovate accessibility solutions that are perceivable\, operable\, understandable\, and robust. How do we strive for genuine accessibility efforts instead of performative actions\, prioritizing user benefit over optics? Beyond benefitting users\, investing in accessibility fosters innovation\, expands market reach\, and enhances brand loyalty.\n\nThese meetups take place via Zoom and are live captioned. You must register to attend via Zoom. \nAbout the Speaker\n\n\nChris is a Product Manager who is deeply passionate about delivering valuable products to customers\, a lover of gadgets\, tea\, Apple products\, board games\, old jazz and blues albums\, comic books\, accessible products\, and delightful UX. \n\nEvent Information\nSponsors\nThank you to our sponsors: \n\nLive captions: Kinsta\nOrganizer and post-event transcription: Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker\nYour Business here! Learn about sponsorship\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility & Accommodations\nThis meetup will be held virtually over Zoom and live captioned\, thanks to our sponsors.
